MG 42

We built a Yugoslavian MG-42 from a parts kit that others felt was too overwhelming. The kit was 80% complete and the bolt and trigger would have to be replaced to make this 900 RPM monster shoot in semi-automatic only. Considering I had never even held another example and had only seen pictures on the internet, I was bold enough to take it on. Parts were surprisingly easy to find online and those suppliers were friendly and easy to work with. Surprisingly enough I sourced a barrel from "Denver Bullets" a local bullet manufacturer.

Ever heard "measure twice cut once"? This became a piece of butcher paper with all the parts laid out on it along with a myriad of pencil marks. My experience brought me to measure a hundred times, sleep poorly on it the re-measure a hundred times more the next day. Everything must fit absolutely correct to avoid a costly failure. My diligence has paid off in a wonderfully consistent rifle.

The fifty pound tripod was found in a used sporting goods store. No one knew what it was to and they had it for awhile. We knew immediately what we had found and the gun fit it perfectly. We take it out for special occasions or to flex our muscle at the local gun stores. Our complete build price ends up to be $2800.00, a fraction of what we have been offered many times but it is un-serialized so it is mine forever. (see more)
